Toller rescue is assisting in placement of a senior Toller. Megan is still with her owner and Toller rescue cannot verify the information about the dog. Anyone interesting in providing Megan a good home should verify facts on health and temperament prior to adoption.
Megan is spayed, vaccinated and tattooed 10 year old Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever. She is a healthy, active dog who loves playing with kids. Hide and seek and finding her hidden treats or toy are her favourite games.
Megan knows a variety of commands: sit, down, go to your bed or on your bed (she stays there while the family eats) stay, stop, this way, say please, wait, ready…set…GO and then she runs after her toy or hunts through the house for her treats. If we’re playing fetch with her toy and I tell her to take a break, she drops her toy and goes and lies down. After she’s done her business outside, she’ll come running if I say, “in a house, in a house” or “come see what I’ve got” because she know she’ll get a treat. She barks and runs for her toy when we hug or sing Happy Birthday. She listens intently when I talk to her and she communicates with her eyes or sounds if she has to go out or if she wants a treat. She loves going for walks and will take me on different routes when I give her the lead.
She’s quite friendly with other dogs, but feisty if they start anything. We had a six year old visiting in Dec. and she told her Mom, ‘They have a dog there that does everything you tell it!” Megan is sensitive to sounds like high pitched beeping and doesn’t like them. They make her nervous and it stems from the fire alarm going off when we moved here. She will bark when someone comes to the door, but other than that is quite quiet.
A happy home with one or two children that would be loving, kind and gentle with her would be ideal.
