The NSDTR Club of Canada's Hip/Eye/Heart Registry has been in existence for most of the past decade. From its' inception, it has been an open registry. The information which has been provided by owners has been made available in printed form and is mailed to all Club members on a yearly basis. However, until approximately five or six years ago, the only information provided was that of phenotypically clear dogs. Toller owners and breeders realized that this gave them only part of the story and that for the Registry to provide useful and meaningful information for breeders, the status of PRA-affected and carrier dogs was needed as well as dogs which failed their hip exams. The response to date has been quite good, with more breeders and owners worldwide providing information each year. When it became evident that there may be a history of pulmonic stenosis in the Toller population a decision was made to include the findings of heart exams as well. Now we are adding in CEA results. As always, owners/breeders of dogs may give us permission to include other health issues and these will be placed in the "Other" column. It is hoped that collecting heart information will help to determine how much of the population may be affected and the mode of inheritance.
To provide information to the Hip/Eye/Heart Registry or for more information, you may contact the Registry Operator, Cheryl Tomayer.
Next update to be completed and available on-line at the end of May. If you have any data that should be included, please send it to prior to that date.
